Select seedlings of a grafted Qing orchard with a controlled pollen cloud. Qing has been evaluated in long-term trials at University of Missouri, verifying their superior productivity, nut marketability, and blight resistance - traits which they passed on to all other varieties we offer. It is the Q in UMCA® PQK and is one of many parents in Empire Elite & Ohio Select.
These are then grown out in sandy loam nursery beds in Missouri by our nursery and fulfillment partners Bullrock Nursery. Bare root trees are removed early winter and held in cold storage where they are then shipped on-demand to your farm! -

It all starts with select seed from the best performing breeding orchards at the Rt. 9 Chestnut Co-op. These seed come from a select block of trees that includes grafted cultivars and a seedling trial from highly selected parents. They are predominantly pure Chinese with a few Chinese-type hybrids. The resulting offspring are precocious and productive, perhaps more so than many of named cultivar seedlings.
